Stony Brook offers several places to meet. Meeting at a local Starbucks, Barnes and Noble, or on the Stony Brook campus is usually the most comfortable and convenient setting. The meetings are casual, over coffee, and meant to be a comfortable environment to practice and learn.
The first meeting is free and is used to get to know one another and learn each others’ expectations and goals. We will discuss language background and experience studying English, the student’s learning goals, and my specific methods of tutoring, and payment. After the first meeting we can decide if conversation and tutoring is the next appropriate step for the student’s goals.
